Who would mind though when this is the view the whole way round?! There are maps the whole way around in case you get lost along the jungle paths, and the place is pretty big so there was quite a bit of walking. It took us the whole day, we didn’t rush anything, but we also didn’t do any of the additional activities that you have to pay for so we weren’t tied in to any time slots. The easiest way to see and do everything is to start at one end and work your way the whole way around. Obviously I took my phone and waterproof case with me, and flip flops are a good idea for when you aren’t snorkelling as the ground gets hotter than the sun.Įverything there is to do is located somewhere along either side of the inlet, which gets narrower the further inland it gets from the sea. Lock up anything you don’t want to take with you for pretty much the whole day, you won’t want to waste time coming back for anything and you literally need nothing with you. Once you’ve passed through the shops you come out in the blue area, each section of the park is colour coded, to help you find your way around, but also so you don’t forget where your locker is, and where to return your mask and flippers. Arriving at the park and it does feel like a waterpark at Disney World, there are merchandise shops and a huge model of Tulum right in the entrance. ![]() There are shuttle services and hotel pick ups to get there, from all over Quintana Roo, the Mexican state it’s located in, but our hotel was only ten minutes away in Tulum so we just got a taxi for next to nothing. There were plenty kiosks as well so it didn’t take long at all, there were hardly any queues. Booking in advance online will get you the cheapest ticket, starting at £65ish, but as we didn’t know which day we would go we just paid on the gate and it really wasn’t much more than that. You can choose a photo ticket upgrade, which also includes photos from the day at various photo spots around the park, and in addition to the standard ticket you can pay for extra experiences. Your entry ticket is all inclusive, which includes food and drinks, lockers, showers, towels, a free snorkel and use of the masks and flippers. I think eco-park is definitely a better term so keep this in mind throughout. What I liked most when reading about it is that it is all natural, obviously the human additions like the sun loungers, restaurant, zip wire etc have been added, but the actual place is a natural inlet, surrounded by jungle and complete with Mexican cenotes and a fully natural lazy river. This is going to be a pretty long read so hope you’ve got plenty snacks!ĭespite being a ‘theme park’ by advertising, and a website that looks like a cartoon, if you can get past that and actually research the place properly you begin to realise how special it is. I tried my absolute hardest to get photos that show how beautiful the place is, and how natural too so hopefully that comes across in the thousands you’re about to see. We were recommended Xel-ha by a few people, and I’d seen some photos online mainly the watermarked theme park type with giant colourful birds or the dolphin encounters, but these really do not do the place justice. It was a really close call between a Saturday spent in Paris, and a day spent at Xel Ha park in Mexico, but the latter I think just wins. I’ve already gone over my 16 highlights of 2016, and picked out my favourite restaurants (lets stay positive folks, food and fun stuff no celebrity deaths etc), but I really have to elaborate on my favourite day of 2016. 1583 Downloads.Everyone and their aunt are looking back over 2016 this week, before New Year rolls around in a couple of days time and everyone starts making resolutions and plans for 2017. 13503 Downloads.ĭownload map PNG image 6.14MB. It would be good if choosing to save and close the image were enough to take you back into where you can see your entire Photos library. ![]() However, you can't make an image be a Live Photo again. You can undo them, even when you go back into the image later. If you choose to preserve your edits, the next time you open up this image and go into Pixelmator Pro's Photos Extension, all of your previous edits will be there. You can simply have the newly edited photo replace the old one within Photos, or you can Preserve Edits. When you're done making your edits, you click the Save Changes button - and then Photos asks you just how you want them saved. Within Pixelmator Pro itself, though, you soon get used to just tapping the C key and that works within the Photos Extension too. It's there to save room in the toolbar and it's meant to be more prominent because it's such an often-used option. Unlike any other image editor we can think of, crop is in this separate title bar instead of grouped with the rest of the tools.Įditing the same image in the full Pixelmator Pro app So it can take getting some used to where certain features are, perhaps most especially the crop tool. The title bar does not appear in Photos and nor do the Pixelmator Pro menus. Within the full app you get a title bar that includes various options from rulers to the crop tool. There are small differences between editing an image this way and doing it in the full Pixelmator Pro app, but they really are small. Or rather, the main Pixelmator Pro toolbar does. Then it takes a moment, but the Apple Photos editing tools disappear and Pixelmator Pro's ones appear in their place. External editors like this can only work on single images. If it's a Live Photo that you're editing, then when you click Pixelmator Pro, you get a warning that the Live element is going to be switched off. Apple has steadily improved the features in Photos so that it does now have more and better editing tools than it ever has before, but now you can have much more. Within Photos, you find an image, and then click on Edit. It could be smoother to get into and out of, although that's entirely because of how Apple organizes its Photos app and what are called Photos Extensions. If you're used to doing only the most rudimentary edits in Photos, and especially if you're used to instead exporting an image to another editor, the abilities this update gives you are striking. You will, because you don't work exclusively on images that you store in Photos, but you don't have to. You get the rich extra functionality of a full-blown image editing app, but you never have to actually open it. Right within Photos, you can now use all of Pixelmator Pro 1.4's tools on an image, and everything is saved in Apple's app. On Tuesday, the makers of Pixelmator Pro updated the app - and brought its features into Apple's own Photos. So when you try to run the Gimp, the Gimp first looks into the /usr/local/lib location and loads some older, conflicting libraries (which just happen to have the same names as the newer libraries) and tries to use them. Like most Linux systems, Ubuntu FIRST loads libraries from /usr/local/lib and THEN loads libraries from /usr/lib and /lib. The problem with the Gimp failing to start is related to how Linux systems load libraries. So the gimpshop approach is not too crazy. If you are compiling software from source (and not using the Ubuntu packages), one typically deposits the final binary in /usr/local/bin and any needed libraries in /usr/local/lib. On the other hand, since the gimp is really a third party hack, the gimpshop's libraries are located in /usr/local/lib. To work properly, the gimp must load its libraries from these two locations. Since the gimp is part of the Ubuntu repositories, the gimp's libraries are located in /usr/lib and /usr. So binary packages (although convenient) are often the source of problems especially if they are old and unofficial! On newer Ubuntu systems like Hardy Heron, you would have been able to avoid these problems if you compiled from source and used the right compile options. The gimpshop package probably worked just fine on older Ubuntu systems where gimp 2.2 was installed. Gimpshop is an OLD unofficial package so you really cannot blame Ubuntu.
